Listen: Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole Release “A Tale of 2 Citiez” & "Alright" Remixes, Joint Album In 2016?

kendrick and j cole black friday

Just before 2015’s Black Friday (Nov. 27) was over, rappers (and dear friends) Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole surprised their millions of fans around the world by releasing online two very special remixes. What they did? Kendrick Lamar remixed J. Cole’s “A Tale of 2 Citiez”, from “2014 Forest Hills Drive”, freestyling over the instrumental, and J. Cole remixed Kendrick’s “Alright”, from “To Pimp a Butterfly”, freestyling over the instrumental too!

Both remixes were released at the precise same time on the rappers’ official SoundCloud accounts (stream below), and in less than 24 hours, their remixes reached 1 million streams, respectively. Major!

What's behind these sudden Black Friday gifts? Is there more than meets the eye? J. Cole’s last verse on his “Alright” remix could be a clarifier: “But this February, bet shit gets scary when I fuck around and drop [censored]”. Are J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar planning to release a join album in February next year? OMG, please let this get confirmed soon! I know they won’t probably sell like Adele in their first week, but a joint album of J. Cole and Mr. Lamar will definitely sell like a hotcakes.

What's the better track?
