You'd Need To Go Back In Time To Truly Love Jennifer Lopez's New Single "Medicine"
Jennifer Lopez released her new single “Medicine” featuring rapper French Montana yesterday (April 3) on digital platforms. Have we heard a collaboration between these two artists in the past? Yeah, don’t you remember “I Luh Ya Papi”?. That was a bop. But, is “Medicine” a bop too? I just did my first listen of it and my first impression was, “I kind of enjoyed it”. "Kind of" is the key part. Unfortunately for Jennifer, this sounds dated. Sounds like a song from the “Get Right” era. Lots of saxophone, sassy, female empowering lyrics, and Jennifer serving the coolest pronunciation of the word “Uzi”. Didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. This doesn’t sound like a single for 2019. An album filler? That would be more appropriate. I have no doubt Jennifer will slay this in a music video, though. That may get the song to win a few points. But yeah, the song is a bit underwhelming considering it is an official “single”.
