World Premiere! Maroon 5 & Kendrick Lamar - "Don't Wanna Know": Full Audio + Review
Boom! And just like that Maroon 5 is back in our lives.
The Adam Levine-led band premiered a brand new single called “Don’t Wanna Know” today (Oct. 12). The Kendrick Lamar-assisted breezy song is confirmed to be music from M5’s upcoming sixth studio album, whose release date hasn’t unfortunately been announced yet.
We all thought the first day we would hear “Don’t Wanna Know” was going to be October 18th, as it was first reported, but NO. Maroon 5 were in a hurry to give fans their new music! October 18th will apparently be the day the single officially goes for radio adds.
“Don’t Wanna Know”, whose sound is a hybrid between pop/rock and tropical-EDM, is a chill track where Adam Levine of Maroon 5 sings about not wanting to know whom his ex girlfriend has moved on with. It’s best for his heart and mind not knowing. “I don't wanna know / Who's taking you home/ I’m loving you so / The way I used to love you”, sins a heart-broken Adam on the catchy chorus of the new Maroon 5 single. Poor Adam still has feelings for the girl, and he even cries thinking about her when he drinks.
Just broken up? It’s best that you grab a tissue or two before listening to this song. It may be too much for you.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar spits a verse in the middle of the song. It’s the usual fire rapping we’re accustomed from him. And although his verse wasn’t really necessary for the song, I see Maroon 5’s intelligent minds in asking him to throw a verse on “Don’t Wanna Know” for that will open the single the doors to urban radio.
