Believe it because it’s true: the music video for SZA’s flawless song “Drew Barrymore” is finally here. *sheds a tear*. It premiered on VEVO tonight.
“Drew Barrymore” is one of the many standout songs from rising neo-soul/R&B singer SZA’s debut album “CTRL” – which debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 at an epic #3. There is not doubt in my mind that talented SZA will win big next year at the Grammys. “CTRL” is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long while. Very cohesive, no fillers, it showcases SZA’s amazing talent so nicely, and it feels so fresh.
The music video for “Drew Barrymore” was to the best of my knowledge shot in February, only a few weeks after the single had been actually released. And it should have premiered on VEVO back then, but for some reason SZA’s label withheld the video until today. What a bizarre decision, huh? It just feels kind of weird having a clearly winter-themed music video premiere in warm June!
By the way, queen Drew Barrymore makes a stellar cameo at the 2:16 minute mark in the music video!!!
I literally died when I saw her! Such a nice gesture from her to have made time in her busy schedule to appear in SZA’s video….
I'm sure Drew's already become a huge fan of SZA's music by now!
