Song Premiere: The Weeknd Gets Very Racy In Gesaffelstein ‘s “Lost In Fire”… SHADY Too? Drama!

the weeknd lost in fire

No better way to start the weekend with new music from The Weeknd.

The Canadian crooner is the featured artist, actually the main and only vocalist, on French DJ and producer Gesaffelstein’s new single “Lost In Fire”, which arrived on digital platforms on Friday morning. The song is a one-off single from Gesaffelstein for the start of 2019 and it features one of his best buddies in the entire world. Gesaffelstein and The Weeknd have collaborated in the past, if you didn’t know. The French gentleman produced a couple of tracks on The Weeknd’s 2017 “My Dear Melancholy” EP.

Gesaffelstein’s new single has The Weeknd singing about racy and what some believes to be shady stuff. The raciness comes from all the sexual encounter references ("Well, baby, you can bring a friend / She can ride on top your face / While I f-ck you straight") and the shady stuff comes from this following lyric in the first verse: “And I just want a baby with the right one / 'Cause I could never be the one to hide one”). Many people on social media are saying this is shade being thrown at Drake (it was revealed not long ago that Drake had a secret child with a French porn star). I just don’t know what The Weeknd wins with re-igniting this beef if this is true? Meh. Next.

The song is enjoyable but doesn’t it feel like ‘same ol’, same ol’’ from The Weeknd. I swear to God this could be something I could have heard from in 2016, 2017 or 2018. Gesaffelstein should have used this opportunity to make The Weeknd show off in a complete new sound. That would have been more exciting to kick off 2019. But oh well.
