Single Review: Katy Perry - "Swish Swish" Featuring Nicki Minaj / *Audio Included
“Bon Appetit”, who?
Katy Perry has just made everybody forget about that struggling/hated single of hers called “Bon Appetit” (although I was kind of into it, people just didn’t care for the lyrics, the sound of it, the fact it featured the homophobic rappers of Migos, etc, so they made it a flop) with the release of her new “Witness” album song “Swish Swish”, featuring the one and only Nicki Minaj, aka. the Queen of Trinidad and Tobago.
IS THIS HER NEXT SINGLE?
It must be. Everybody was betting she would just release a random countdown single from the album today, the biggest bet being the title track “Witness”, but NAH. Apparently in view of the catastrophic performance “Bon Appetit” is having (despite them premiering a millionaire music video), Katy and Capitol Records have decided the best move is to move on from that single already (and it has been out for just a couple of weeks). “Swish Swish” really must to be the new single from “Witness”, because do you honestly think Katy would release her song with Nicki Minaj before the album release as just a countdown single? No way in hell. This could be the biggest song on the entire album!

THE REVIEW
“Swish Swish” is a house-pop song filled with cool attitude and mystery, where Katy talks about being a woman in control who isn’t afraid of terminating her relationship with a guy that doesn’t behave appropriately (“Another one in the casket”). Nicki Minaj comes in the middle of the song to do her killer verse and hearing her do her rapping over that clubby house beat was just everything and more. It was like hearing Nicki Minaj on an Azealia Banks song for a minute (doing it way better than her of course) and it sounded AMAZING.
This is too cool of a song, and clubs just ain’t ready. I say Katy sends this to radios immediately and gets working on the music video starting tomorrow. We need this to be the bop of the summer. #byebyebonappetit
