Single Review: Halsey - "Strangers" Featuring Lauren Jauregui / *Audio Available

halsey strangers

Can’t believe it’s here! One of my most anticipated songs from Halsey’s forthcoming album “hopeless fountain kingdom” is here! I’ve been dying to hear this song ever since the album tracklist was released last month.

Halsey released “Strangers”, featuring Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui, as the latest “countdown” single from her upcoming second studio album (in stores June 2) on digital stores today. AND GUYS, THE SONG IS TOO AMAZING!

Written by Halsey and produced by Greg Kurstin, “Strangers” is to sum up 2017’s lesbian anthem (and release timing couldn’t be more perfect as PRIDE celebrations are just around the corner). Over a progressive electronic beat, Halsey and Lauren (both public bisexuals) will converse about their one-night stand (probably the result of an exchange via a dating app) and how things went apparently wrong during the encounter - for “Halsey” didn’t call “Lauren” to hook up for a second time. “Sugar, we're not lovers, we're just strangers / With the same damn hunger”, sings Halsey on the chorus of her collaboration with Lauren introducing listeners to the story that at least she only wanted to have some fun and not get into anything serious. With Lauren later crying: “She doesn't call me on the phone anymore / I must've crossed a line, I must've lost my mind”. She clearly thinks she must’ve done something wrong while she was with her that night. But maybe that wasn't the case... I think Halsey was quite clear when she inferred she was just looking for something "casual". Maybe Lauren was hoping that wild night would've meant more for Halsey (as it did for her)? Either way, Lauren is a bit heartbroken now. The rest of the song will just be Halsey and Lauren singing about what could have been.

In this era of Tinder, Grindr, and other dating apps, “Strangers” is a song that every user should listen to. It could be very relatable and is totally a situation that could happen in this e-meet world.

A tip: Try not to get too caught up on that person without first receiving a positive feedback from him/her that "it" could be moving on to something serious. Otherwise, you will be left feeling like crap without a true motive.
