Single Review: George Ezra - "Don't Matter Now" / *Audio Included

george ezra don't matter now

We’ve been patiently waiting for the “Wanted on Voyage” follow-up album to get here, and after three long years, our wish is finally about to get fulfilled. English singer-songwriter George Ezra will release his second full-length studio album later in 2017. The lead single, “Don’t Matter Now” was released today on digital platforms.

Don’t Matter Now” is a feel-good folk-rock song (very George Ezra if you know what I mean. If you’ve heard “Budapest” then you can already get a picture of what this new single will feel like), one that will make you want to snap your fingers while you listen along, and one where George Ezra will ask listeners to get quality time with themselves, “unplugged”, and for them to try new things in life. “Sometimes you need to be alone/ Shut the door, unplug the phone / Speak in a language they don’t know” is exactly what he sings.

Super in love with the “doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo” ad-libs in this song and of course with those make-your-day horns!

Evidently it’ll be very hard for “Don’t Matter Now” to match the massive global success of “Budapest” – don’t think no George Ezra single releases in the future will – but hopefully it will get a little close. It’s a very good song. I bet seeing George performing “Don’t Matter Now” in concert will be a life-changing experience.
