Sia Leaves RCA For Atlantic Records, Christmas Album In The Works!

sia atlantic records

It has just been announced that Sia has left RCA Records after releasing only two albums with them (“1000 Forms of Fear”, and “This Is Acting”). Now, the Australian singer-songwriter is part of the Atlantic Records family.

Another RCA artist who recently left the Sony label to sign to Atlantic Records was Kelly Clarkson.

Sia’s first project with Atlantic Records with be a Christmas album featuring all-original holiday songs co-written and produced by Greg Kurstin.

“Sia is a once-in-a-generation artist. Her extraordinary gifts as a singer and songwriter, her revolutionary approach to the art of performing, her groundbreaking videos – everything she does comes from a deep wellspring of inspiration and imagination,” said Atlantic Records Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman and Atlantic Records Chairman/COO Julie Greenwald in a statement. “Sia is that rare artist who has formed her own singular, boundless musical universe. We are so happy to welcome her into the Atlantic family and to be joining Sia on her amazing musical journey.”

I wonder what happened...? Sia was doing so well with RCA, so I find the label switch rather surprising. Is Atlantic giving her more money and more creativity freedom maybe? Was Kesha supporter Sia feeling uncomfortable being at the home company of Dr. Luke's Kemosabe Records? Whatever the reason, this is such a loss for RCA and Sony Music.
