Sia Covers The Mamas & the Papas' "California Dreamin'": Listen In Full!

sia california dreamin cover

So many have made covers of The Mamas & The Papas’ 60s hit “California Dreamin’” (R.E.M, The Beach Boys, The Carpenters or Bobby Womack) and now Sia has to be added to the list. For the Australian singer has recorded her personal spin to the John Phillips and Michelle Phillips-written song (included in Rolling Stone?'s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time) for the soundtrack of the action-adventure thriller disaster film “San Andreas“ which opens in theaters late this month.

Featuring a hauntingly glorious orchestral instrumentation, Sia’s rendition of “California Dreamin’” sounds almost Oscar-worthy if it wasn’t for the fact that covers can’t be nominated in the “Best Original Song” category – for obvious reasons.

If someone was born to make a cover of this song, it was Sia. Her signature singing style adds a surprising super cool touch to the song that no artist in the last few decades has been capable to incorporate. Now this is awesome!
