Virtually nothing positive. Till I last checked back in November, despite all the heavy TV promotion the two young singers did, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reached the Top 80 on iTunes and eventually it plummeted outside the Top 100. Translation: “I Know What You Did Last Summer” smelled like a flop.
However, it appears that the wish Shawn Mendes asked the New Year, 2016 that is, was that his single “I Know What You Did Last Summer” would rise from its ashes and turn into a sleeper hit, for this is what has happened. Wish come true! “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is rising in exposure on radio and to date the song is on the Top 10 of iTunes. Incredible!
And in view of such a revival, Shawn’s label couldn’t do another thing but bring back the heavy promotion. So they spent a few coins to book a performance slot for Shawn and Camila on yesterday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. There, Shawn and Camila, who apparently can’t go to TV without wearing semi-slutty dresses, sang “I Know What You Did Last Summer” in the only way they can: offering solid vocals.
