Sevyn Streeter BANNED From Performing For Wearing “We Matter” Jersey at NBA Game!

seven streeter wears we matter jersey

The beautiful and talented Sevyn Streeter was booked to perform the US national anthem before the start of the NBA game between Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder at Wells Fargo Center in Philly last night (Oct. 26), however mere minutes before she was going to hit the court, representatives of the organization approached her to let her know that they were canceling her performance because of the “WE MATTER” jersey she was wearing.

Watch Sevyn’s outrage in the video she posted on all of her social media accounts:

I imagine the organization gave Sevyn the option to remove her jersey so they wouldn’t cancel her performance, but I imagine too that smart Sevyn told them ‘hell no’ (she did the right thing) because she believed the jersey shouldn’t be a problem and that it was unfair that they were punishing her because of it.

Evidently Sevyn’s jersey was a subtle support to the “Black Lives Matter” movement and I suppose the organization didn’t want “drama”, but in my opinion it was a stupid move what they did because what the “Black Lives Matter” movement wants is simply justice and equality for the black community in the US, that’s their whole purpose. And in times likes this where police brutality is manifest, it’s a valid cause. I don’t believe Sevyn Streeter deserved this kind of censorship. Doesn’t she have the right of freedom of speech? I really think last night’s organization’s punishment decision to Sevyn has caused the opposite effect. They didn’t want the “drama” but now they’re making headlines for the bad reasons. Shame on them!

If I were Sevyn, I would record myself singing the national anthem acapella, upload the video on social media, and let the NBA know of what they foolishly missed!

PS: Check out Sevyn Streeter's new single "D4L".

Was the organization a fool?
