Review: Kanye West - 'God Level' [Premiere]
Just a few hours before he said 'I do' to Kim
Kardashian at their wedding in Florence, Italy, rapper Kanye West premiered a
new track titled 'God Level' (what is up with him keep boasting about his
fake ‘divine’ status?). The drum-heavy song was recorded specifically for Adidas’
new “The Dream: All In or Nothing” campaign as part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup,
taking place this summer in
'God Level' was debuted on Adidas’ latest
commercial released on YouTube on Saturday night (May 24th), however a
lengthier version (is this the full version too?) of Kanye West's new tune made
its way via an MP3 streaming site not too long after.
“You see sharks in the water / You don’t see
murder like this this often / Provide a new coffin / You don’t see murder like
this this often”, raps Kim Kardashian’s brand new husband in 'God Level'. The
self-proclaimed YEEZUS speaks on fierce competition, and murder in the sense of
beating rivals in an attempt to fit the spirit of the FIFA World Cup where
countries will battle each other in the stadium field for ’life or death'.
As fitting as the lyrics may be, Kanye’s 'God Level' just isn’t a good track. It’s messy, so over-the-top, and hopefully it is not the sound he plans to unveil on the ‘Yeezus’ follow-up. In related news, Kanye is currently working on his first collection for adidas.
