Review: Dakota Bradley - 'Won't Be Young Forever'

Dakota Bradley may only be 20, and still having a lot of things to learn, but he's already achieved three important milestones in his young career as a singer. 1), to have performed on 'The Ellen Show', 2) to have signed to a record label, Streamsound Records and 3) to have become the protegé of country legend Tim McGraw. Not so bad, huh?

The up-and-coming country singer saw his fate change by a great lot when he made it on 'Ellen'. He and a friend had a viral hit on the Internet that was a country-esque cover of the Michael Jackson hit 'The Girl is Mine'. The video made its way to one of the 'Ellen' show producers, who loved it and tapped the boys for a live appearance. From then, Dakota just kept on developing as a writer, until one day he got the call from Grammy-winning producer Byron Gallimore. He had heard about Dakota's talent, and decided to sign him to his own label (Streamsound) whose roster includes Jaida Dreyer or Austin Webb.

Last year Dakota Bradley released his debut single 'Somethin' Like Somethin'', co-produced by Byron Gallimore and his friend, country legend Tim McGraw. 'Somethin' Like Something' gave Dakota his first Top 50 hit on Country radio.

Now many months later, Dakota is promoting his second official single, 'Won't Be Young Forever'. Written by Bradley, Lance Miller, Brett and Brad Warren, 'Won't Be Young Forever' sounds like a perfect summer jam for the months to come, and an anthem for people in their 20s. The production is pop-country, and the lyrics talk about that although life may go by really fast (too fast sometimes!) and that technically we won't be "young forever," we will feel "forever young," if we choose to. Such optimistic outlook to have on life! Finally there's a song not talking about partying now 'cause we might 'Die Young'.

Dakota excels on the guitar production of 'Won't Be Young Forever', and it's great that his nonchalant vocals show more personality just in time for the chorus. Having his second single have a more pop feel will definitely broaden his fan-base reach, but since it's still got that sufficient country sound, country radios will embrace the song with no problems.

Dakota Bradley is evidently a country artist still in development, but we can see the potential Byron and Tim saw in him. Hunter Hayes may have competition soon!
