One Direction Promote “Made In The A.M” on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live' But “No Control” Steals The Show: Watch
Zayn Malik’s former band, One Direction, performed an outdoors concert last night (Nov. 19) in the middle of Los Angeles downtown for ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. This was one of the most important ‘gigs’ from the television tour the British band is currently doing in the US in support of their recently-released fifth studio album “Made in the A.M”. (The album’s first-week sales will be revealed later tonight (Friday, Nov. 20) and it all points out that Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” will beat 1D’s “Made in the A.M” by a low margin. Upset?)
Why was this “Jimmy Kimmel Live” appearance particularly important for One Direction? Because 1) it took place on one of America’s top TV networks and 2) it was on a prime-time show.
Liam, Niall, Louis and Harry performed not 1 but 5 songs on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday night. These were 3 tracks from “Made in the A.M” - “Perfect”, “History” and “Love You Goodbye” - “Story of My Life” from “Midnight Memories” and “No Control” from “Four”.
To be specially noted is the performance of “No Control”. Remember that at the beginning of this year One Direction’s fans started a campaign to force the band to release “No Control” as the last official single from the album “Four” and to shoot a music video for it? Although they couldn’t make their fans’ dream come true, they’re at least giving them a sort of consolation prize by adding "No Control" to the setlists of their current US TV tour concerts. They also performed the song on GMA.
