Omi Releases "Cheeleader" Follow-Up Single "Hula Hoop"... Listen Now!

omi hula hoop cover

Jamaican reggae singer-songwriter Omi released his new single "Hula Hoop" (lolz!) today, August 28th, alongside the pre-order launch of his debut album "Me 4 U" on iTunes. The summery song is the official follow-up to his monster hit "Cheerleader", which reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. Might we remind you that "Cheerleader" was originally released in 2012 and that it failed to succeed back then, and that it wasn't until late last year when a remix of the song created by German producer Felix Jaehn premiered that "Cheerleader" took the charts by storm.

I kind of liked "Cheerleader" and "Hula Hoop" sounds pretty nice too (it's another reggae meets dance song), but for some reason my crystal ball is saying that Omi will end up as a one-hit wonder. Is my crystal ball maybe broken? You be the judge then! Stream Omi's new single below and let us know what you think!

Oh, and if you can't stop wondering and you don't have time to listen to the song at this precise moment, the metaphor Omi uses in his new single is: "Round and round your loving winds me up / Like a hula, hula hoop, hula, hula hoop, oh".

Hit or Miss?
