Look at where Nina Nesbitt is at now. Over 19 million views on YouTube, toured Europe with Ed Sheeran at age 16, signed to a major label (Island Records), and released earlier this year her debut album 'Peroxide' in the UK (reaching the Top 15).

What's next now for the 19-year-old Scottish singer? Conquer America, obvs! Nina released on April 1st her self-titled debut EP on iTunes USA. The EP only features six songs. A mix from 'Peroxide' tracks and tracks from previous UK EPs.

Nina's voice is so unique, her song-writing is captivating and she simply is a huge star waiting to happen. She's just started, though, so there's no need to rush.

We recently caught up with Nina Nesbitt for a quick Q&A. In it, she discusses releasing her first EP in America, what the differences between US and UK crowds are, meeting Lily Allen and Ed Sheeran, what her Top 5 songs of the moment are and more!

THE INTERVIEW

1. Your self-titled debut US EP came out April 1st. How excited are to finally be bringing your music to your American fans?

Really excited! Feels like it's been ages. Looking forward to getting more music out in America soon.

2. Must have been really hard to only choose 6 songs for the EP?

The fans helped me choose on Twitter which was great! They're kind of cherry picked from the 5 EPs in the UK, and are the ones that represent each EP in the best way, I think.

3. You released your debut LP “Peroxide” in the UK earlier this year. Will you be releasing a full-length album in the U.S later this year too? If so, can your American fans expect you to toss in a few new tracks?

I am looking to release a full LP in America later this year/early next year, which is really exciting. I am hoping to add a few new tracks as I write all the time, but not 100% sure yet!

4. You’ve been doing promo in the U.S these past weeks kind of being everywhere. And you just performed your first ever headlining show in L.A at the Bootleg Theatre. Do you find any difference between the UK and US crowds?

There is a slight difference. I think it differs from city to city. LA crowds are very into the lyrics and the meanings, and I think that's really nice. Some of the people came up to me after and told me how much certain lyrics meant to them, and it was really nice to hear!

5. Talking of YouTube. When you first started, you posted a lot of videos. And not too late after, your life changed when Ed Sheeran loved one of your songs and invited you to tour with him. Then everything followed; signing to a label, and releasing your debut album. Would you consider Ed instrumental to your career?

He was definitely important! I can never thank him enough for taking me on tour and giving me that first opportunity.

6. We’ve heard your debut album "Peroxide" and it’s so good! Where do you get your inspiration for your song-writing?

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it. Peroxide is a musical diary of my life from ages 16-19. So basically anything I experienced during that time I wrote about whether it be a break up, falling in love, friendships or growing up.

7. Your debut album “Peroxide” is entirely written by you (with a few co-writings). How awesome is it that you get to have all this freedom on your first album? Surely you feel fully supported by your UK label?

It was great. I would not make an album I wasn't involved in. When I signed to my UK label I was already having independent success, so they knew from day 1 what sound I wanted to make.

8. One of your songs on “Peroxide” is “Mr. C” and is co-written by Lily Allen. How was your studio-songwriting time with her? And, you’ve got to tell me, did you watch her “Hard Out Here” video? Any thoughts?

It was amazing! She is a big inspiration of mine and I love her funny lyrics. I love her Hard Out Here video! I think it's hilarious and makes a real point about current situations.

9. One of the stand-out tracks on “Peroxide” is certainly “Selfies”. What are your thoughts on girls that actually take cute selfies and spam their exes to just get them back?

I think it's quite funny. It's a little immature, I guess, but we've all secretly done it.

10. Back to your debut U.S EP. Will we be seeing you performing on national television in America soon? If you could pick a show, where would your American TV performance debut be? Maybe on 'Letterman' before he retires?

I haven't seen any of them but I think Ellen looks so much fun and Saturday Night Live, too. Any national TV show that will have me on I'm happy to perform on, it's all about getting to new people!

Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know

13. And the last book you read...?

14. If you could bring someone from the dead to perform a duet live, who would it be, why and which song would you play?

Michael Jackson would be pretty cool, I love his music. Billy Jean.

15. What country and city that you haven’t visited yet would you want to discover next?

Japan! I'm obsessed with the thought of it. It looks so culturally different.

16. We know you’ve just started, but how do you see yourself in ten years time?

No idea! Making music of some kind for sure though. I don't like to plan too far in advance, so you’ll have to stay tuned!
