New Song! Shawn Mendes - "Don't Be A Fool": Full Audio + Review

shawn mendes don't be a fool

Shawn Mendes released a new song from his upcoming studio album “Illuminate” online today (Sept. 15). Listen to the acoustic ballad Don’t Be A Fool” on Spotify.

The Canadian singer’s second LP will arrive in stores later this month - on September 23rd via Island Records to be more precise.

Don’t Be A Fool”, co-written by Shawn, Scott Friedman and Geoffrey Warburton, is a slow jam where the 18-year-old Toronto singer will break the heart of a girl who has fallen in love with him so deeply. Why would he do that? Because he says he can't love her back because he's not in a good place mentally right now ("Don’t waste your time trying to pull me in 'cause I’m just a mess") and because he's a bit of a womanizer too? "I know that you don’t want to hear this but I’m always on the move", Shawn sang. Do you get the same vibe from this lyric? In any case, Shawn will wish the girl good luck in life and that she finds the right man for her soon. What a gentleman, huh?

But Shawn don't ask the girl to "but for now kiss me softly before I say..." if you're going to break up with her. That's the worst!
