New Music: The Chainsmokers - "Kanye" [Premiere / Review]

chainsmokers kanye single cover

The Chainsmokers are so clever. After making the entire world kneel before (and dance like maniacs to) their single “#Selfie” – using one of the most famous new words in the last decade – in early 2014, the NYC-based production duo is delivering a worthy successor starting today, August 5th, the day The Chainsmokers’ brand new single “Kanye” hits iTunes. Kanye? Yeah, Kanye like in Kanye West.

Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall (aka. The Chainsmokers) made everyone their dancing slaves with the absurd but catchy “#Selfie” song and now they’re using another ‘gimmick’ to title and base the lyrics of their new single on. The days of the “selfies” are gone (well, not exactly, but for The Chainsmokers they are), therefore the NYC duo are now resorting to one of the hottest topics of the music industry (still) today to bring in the cash; Kanye West. Everybody loves and/or hates Kanye West. And his whole public image has grown exponentially ever since he started dating Kim Kardashian. Although, it’s not about Kim what the song “Kanye” is about, it’s actually about how much Kanye West loves Kanye West, and that he should be a role model for the entire world in the sense of self-esteem, vanity and self-efficacy.

“Kanye” single review

Yet another absurd song by The Chainsmokers but it is so damn catchy! The up-lifting Kanye-inspired lyrics combined with that EDM beat equals a big summer fiesta. The female vocalists in the song are Kat Ostenberg and Skyler Stonestreet together named Siren - who are about to get famous thanks to The Chainsmokers. I’d definitely like to know what Kanye West thinks of this track? Can you imagine if he releases a remix? That’d be sick!
