New Music: R. City (feat. Adam Levine) - "Locked Away" [Full Audio]

r city locked away cover

Check out R. City’s new single “Locked Away” featuring the one and only Adam Levine, the leader of Maroon 5. The song surfaced moments ago today, Sunday (June 28), but it won’t be available for purchase on iTunes till tomorrow (not much of a wait, huh? Cool!).

R. City, a reggae-hip hop duo hailing from Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, are the latest signees to Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe imprint (part of RCA Records), and yeah, you’ve figured it out, The Doctor Luke is the producer of the sounds-like-a-summer-hit track “Locked Away” – alongside buddy Cirkut.

R. City, formerly known as Rock City, have been in the business for a long while, they’ve released a bunch of mixtapes and have produced and written quite a few songs for other artists (Ciara’s “I Bet” for instance to name a recent one). Although they’ve technically been signed to another major label in the past, the extinct Geffen Records, this is the first time they are really focusing on their own ‘performing duo in the spotlight’ game, and “Locked Away” is the first proper radio single they will release, and with the help of the almighty RCA Records.

Locked Away” is a radio-friendly song that sees Adam Levine singing the ‘Payphone-esque piano-driven chorus where he asks his girlfriend the important question of: “If I got locked away / Tell me honestly would you still love me the same?”, and R. City doing their reggae-hip hop thing in the verses.
