New Music: O-Town - 'Skydive' [Premiere]
Nop, this isn’t a leftover from their 2001 debut album, nor a song that wasn't shown during their MTV 'Making the band' series, this is brand new music from boyband O-Town!
The band have made a comeback (unfortunately
without eye candy Ashley Parker Angel. Too busy?) and plan to drop on August 3rd their
first album in ten years titled ‘Lines & Circles’. First single from that
is called ‘Skydive’, and although it won’t be launched on iTunes till July 27th,
O-Town have premiered the full audio today, June 28th, via SoundCloud. So
that's a whole month fans have to re-engage with the boyband and decide whether they'll purchase ‘Skydive’ legally or not.
Is ‘Skydive’ the comeback single O-Town should
have released? Probably not. The song is good, but I don't see this smashing
anywhere. Plus, every time I read the title I can’t help but to think of Adele’s
‘Skyfall’. O-Town’s ‘Skydive’ is a solid, well-sung (well, minus Jacob
Underwood’s second verse which sounds a bit weird, and too screechy at times) slow-tempo,
but we're just mad because we thought O-Town would comeback with something
stronger. Something radios would love to play on and on!
And what are the lyrics about? Is it about a dead man who wants to comeback to earth from heaven (skydiving) to be with his girlfriend whose still alive and loving life?
