New Music: John Legend (ft. Common) - "Glory" [From "Selma" Soundtrack]

john legend glory

Talk about perfect timing. John Legend and Common team up for “Glory”. The inspiring ballad is part of the soundtrack of the Ava DuVernay-directed film "Selma" (based on the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches led by James Bevel, Hosea Williams, and Martin Luther King, Jr) which will premiere in US theatres on December 25th (limited release) and January 9th, 2015 (wide release). In “Glory”, John sings in the chorus about attaining justice and glory through the ones that fight, while Common makes reference to the Ferguson, Missouri dramatic situation in his rap (totally fitting with the theme of the track!).

Very powerful and inspiring! John sounds super soulful, and Common just shows his PRO status in his verses and rhymes. It’s been a long time since I've liked a track that has Common in it! By the way, no trying to be shady (yeah, right....) but "Glory" puts Alicia Keys' latest "inspiring" release "We Gotta Pray" in a bad place. John Legend's song sounds more well-thought, and polished.
