New Music: Daughtry - "Utopia" [Premiere]
Go Daugthry. If you thought the Chris Daughtry-led band was dying because of their lower sales album after album, then you better re-think that because they just scored a major “gig”. FOX have offered them the chance to record the theme song of upcoming reality series "Utopia" - where 15 men and women will have to figure out how to survive in an isolated area for a year and be filmed 24/7 – which premieres tonight September 7th. Make sure to tune in and listen to “Utopia” in prime time.
Uh-huh, it was really obvious the theme song of “Utopia” had to be called “Utopia”. Daughtry unveiled the full audio of the track early today on VEVO. Get your new Daughtry music fix below. It's going to be four minutes of a musical pleasure!
“Utopia” song review
I like it. The sensitive guitar melody at the beginning had be worried the song was going to be super bland, and so not "Daughtry”, but thankfully it was just a mirage. Chris Daughtry will later infuse “Utopia” with Daughtry’s DNA with his powerful vocals. “This is utopia / Let's make a brand new start”, sings the band’s frontman in the up-lifting chorus of the new song. Really nice record! Perfect for the reality series, and I’d say it’d work on radio too. But I don’t think Daughtry can actually push this...
