New Music: Charlie Puth (ft. Meghan Trainor) - "Marvin Gaye" [Full Audio / Review]

Charitable queen! Meghan Trainor first helped launch (for real) the career of Fifth Harmony by penning for them the pop hit “Sledgehammer” and now the “Bass” songstress is giving YouTube star Charlie Puth a hand by guesting on his breakthrough single “Marvin Gaye”.

23-year-old Charlie Puth is famous for his cover videos on Google’s video-sharing website – which allowed him to appear on the “Ellen” show and do other cool stuff – and late last year he announced that he had signed a deal with Atlantic Records. He’s currently working on that first full-length album for fans but in the meantime he’s confident enough to already be dropping the lead single even though the album isn’t finalized yet. (I’m assuming Atlantic thinks “Marvin Gaye” will be a “late bloomer” and that that will allow Charlie to keep on working on the album for a few more months).

The cute throwback number “Marvin Gaye” is co-written and produced by Charlie Puth and hears none other than “Lips Are Moving” star singing the second verse.

“Marvin Gaye” song review

I’m definitely seeing Top 40 radios supporting this…in due time. It’s such a feel-good track, it’s got that throwback sound that will certainly help brighten up these grey winter days, the vocals are easy on the ear, and Meghan just slays her part.

Nice move by Atlantic Records to sign Charlie Puth. I feel major potential in this guy!
