New Music: Carrie Underwood - "Something in the Water" [Full Audio / Review]

There must be something in the water, indeed, because this undoubtedly is one of Carrie Underwood's strongest singles ever. "Something in the Water" is the lead single - and one of the confirmed original tracks - from her forthcoming “Greatest Hits: Decade #1“ album, due in stores on December 9th. I'm not going to lie I'm a tad upset that Carrie's next album will be a greatest hits one (have really waited 2 years for this?) but I'm partially happy that we're at least going to get a couple of original tracks. Carrie's label probably thought it was the best move to release a hits compilations right now due to the singer's pregnancy and the fact that should it have been an original album she wouldn't have been able to properly promote it. Oh well, can we get an original album in early 2015, then?

"Something in the Water" was scheduled to premiere on radios and be released on iTunes at 6AM (ET) on Monday (Sept. 29) but it's surfaced a little sooner! Yey!

"Something in the Water" Review

"He said: just a little faith and it'll all get better / So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I'm changed / And now I'm stronger", sings Carrie Underwood in the first verse of her new song "Something in the Water". This is a beautiful country ballad where Ms. Underwood sings about her life being changed for better after meeting "a preacher man" by a river. I guess she's talking about God?. Not really worried about the identity of this "being" as I totally get what Carrie wants to convey with this inspirational song. Oh, can we give Carrie a standing ovation for that POWERFUL chorus? Wow!!

Hit or Miss?
