New Music: A$AP Rocky (ft. Miguel & Rod Stewart) - "Everyday" [Full Audio / Review]

asap rocky everyday cover

At least we get a consolation gift for the unexpected delay.

Rapper A$AP Rocky announced not long ago that his much-anticipated second album “At. Long. Last. ASAP” would be delayed from May 12 to June 2. Why he needed those extra weeks I have no idea, but at least he’s being a gentleman to his fans and he’s not just pushing back the album with nothing in exchange. For today, May 8, he premiered the official FOURTH SINGLE from “At. Long. Last. ASAP” and it is a pretty huge song. It’s titled “Everyday”, it was produced by Mark Ronson, and it features Miguel and British legend Rod Stewart. Well, actually Rod’s vocals in A$AP’s “Everyday” single aren’t new, per se, as the rapper’s used a sample from the chorus of Mr. Stewart’s 70’s hit “In A Broken Dream” for his song. There you go! Still, pretty epic to have the name of Rod Stewart as a collaborator in your song…especially when it’s 2015.

70’s vs. 2015

I’m certainly feeling A$AP Rocky’s “Everyday”…not sure I “love” it, nor if it’s going to work amazingly on urban radio, though. This is going to be ‘grower’ for me. Still, this makes me excited for the rapper’s upcoming album because this is in the end ‘quality’ music (even though I doubt of its “hit potential”) and A$AP’s second LP is definitely going to be his best body of work yet and his most eclectic one.

As for “Everyday”, for the most part it is a moody R&B/urban song, very nostalgic and laidback, with Miguel and Rod singing about sipping wine and figuring out what to do with their lives but there’s one “anomaly” in the song, in the middle of it, when A$AP goes from the 70’s to 2015 in a matter of seconds with an upbeat rap delivery.

Hit or Miss?
