Nate Ruess Performs “Nothing Without Love” on “The Voice” In A Beyond Awful Trench Coat: Watch
Good performance of “Nothing Without Love” but that ‘outfit’…come on, Nate. Whoever thought that flower-patterned trench coat was a nice fashion choice needs to be terminated - and I don’t mean firing him/her.
Former Fun. leader Nate Ruess appeared on NBC’s “The Voice” on Monday night (May 11) to perform live his new single “Nothing Without Love”, which, if you don’t know because you live in another planet, is the first official offering from Nate’s forthcoming debut solo album titled “Grand Romantic” out next month on Fueled by Ramen.
The performance was pretty cool; with Nate Ruess moving around the entire stage belting out his new single, interacting with the audience and showing great body language. Also, the idea of having the title of the song “Nothing Without Love” illuminated in the back in big letters and little by little dimming the brightness until only the world “Love” could be seen was pretty clever.
Fashion-wise, though, this performance gave me the cringe. That trench coat needs to be burned ASAP. I bet all four coaches were laughing at it from their red chairs.
Note: Nate’s “The Voice” performance has made “Nothing Without Love” climb about 20 spots on the iTunes main chart and it sits as of this post at #29.
