Nate Ruess - "Great Big Storm" [Music Video Premiere!]
I like the songs on it, but unfortunately for Nate Ruess (and for the Fueled by Ramen executives who trusted in him) his debut album “Grand Romantic” isn’t performing as expected. Oh well, he can always go back with Fun. and start scoring real hits again.
After “Nothing Without Love”, there’s a new official single from Nate’s solo debut and that is “Great Big Storm”. The song-with-a-fabulous-melody immediately stood out from the bunch for me when giving “Grand Romantic” a first listen and I knew this was going to be a single sooner or later. Incredibly the weakest part of “Great Big Storm” is its chorus but it’s all okay because as a whole the song is a winner.
Directed by James Lees, the “Great Big Storm” music video premiered on VEVO last night (July 14). The clip shows Nate Ruess walking the streets of his neighborhood with a big parade (made of high school musicians and athletes) march behind. In the last chorus of the song, a great big storm will arrive, will rain on their parade but that won’t make the good mood be ruined. Everyone will come together for a last moment of singing along and dancing very close to each other to the beat of “Great Big Storm”. When the song ends, the high-schoolers will leave Nate’s side so dramatically as if he had the black plague or something.
