Metaxas’ Long Distance Relationship Anthem “Timezones” Is Pure Genius & Emotive: Listen

timezones metaxas cover

Ed Sheeran, where you at? You may have written a lot of precious ballads but there’s one you couldn’t write, and that’s “Timezones” by up-and-coming NYC-born singer-songwriter Metaxas, who is flawlessly making its appearance into the music scene.

Timezones” is featured on the debut 5-song EP "Home" Metaxas released independently yesterday (Sept. 14) on iTunes.

Thank God for the Internet because thanks to it we can discover incredible new talents and amazing songs such as Metaxas and “Timezones”. What is it this one about? Although the title may give it away a bit, this guitar-driven acoustic ballad hears Metaxas singing about a real-life experience he had with a long-distance relationship and all of the feelings he had to deal with it.

This is a tough subject and undoubtedly many will be able to relate.

Besides hearing a bit of Ed Sheeran on “Timezones”, I also sense somewhat of a Gotye and John Mayer influence.

Direct Lyrics had the opportunity to exclusively chat with Metaxas before publishing this blog and here below you can read what he told us about his new single:

“Timezones is a very personal song that naturally revealed itself to me after spending a year in a long distance relationship. I wanted to write a song that was true to me and the emotional state I was in. I tried to capture the difficulties of maintaining a healthy relationship across the Atlantic, even with all the technological advances like Skyping, Facetime etc.”

Complete in love with “Timezones”, in love with Metaxas’s vulnerable vocals, the way he conveys his stories and I just can’t wait to give his EP a listen tonight!
