Will “Sugar” finally de-throne Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson from the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 and save Mariah Carey’s record in the process?

Adam Levine stood up from his red coach chair to join his Maroon 5 buddies on stage to perform their pop smash hit (from the album “V”) on NBC’s “The Voice” on Monday night (April 6). “Sugar” is currently at #2 on the Billboard main chart only behind “Uptown Funk”. The Bruno Mars-assisted funk/disco track is currently in its 12th week at #1 and if it stays there for 16 consecutive weeks (it’s so close) Bruno and Mark will break Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s record of the longest-running Billboard number one with “One Sweet Day”. That’s why, will Adam save Mariah from disgrace?

Maroon 5 like pink

It wasn’t Adam’s best vocals ever but he did a fine job anyway performing “Sugar” last night on “The Voice”. The stage looked great with all of the pink-lit paraphernalia, the band rocked it, and although not sounding his best, Adam delivered an entertaining and cool to watch show.

By the way, was this Maroon 5’s first TV performance of “Sugar”? I was doing a quick research and it seems it was! Why only now, though!? Still, kudos to them for making “Sugar” a #2 Billboard hit with zero TV promo. That’s impressive.

Thoughts?
