Maddie & Tae Perform "Girl in a Country Song" on "The Today Show"
Signed to Republic Nashville, new female country duo Maddie & Tae are blowing up on the charts with their debut single “Girl In A Country Song" which the girls co-wrote with Aaron Scherz. The song – which criticises “the "bro-country" trend of country songs pertaining to pickup trucks, drinking beer, and attractive women” – is on the rise on Country radio, it is refusing to leave the Top 100 on iTunes, and it recently charted on Billboard’s Hot 100. (And the song’s only been out for a month!)
Today, Monday – August 11th - Maddie & Tae made their US national television debut on ABC’s “The Today Show” with a live performance of “Girl In A Country Song". Backed by a whole band, the talented ladies played their guitars and beautifully sang their breakthrough country hit. What an exceptional performance! I saw no nerves, but only two best friends having a blast.
“Girl In A Country Song" is such an easy-on-the-ear country tune. Certainly radios will keep supporting the song (because it is damn awesome), and should Maddie & Tae keep up with the TV performances, I have a strong belief “Girl In A Country Song" will do major damage on the Billboard Hot 100.
