This song may be out for a really long time now - to be precise since the American Music Awards of last year - but here is now the official music video for “Kevin”, which Macklemore premiered moments ago this Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 24) on his partner Ryan Lewis' YouTube channel.

This powerful rap song is inspired by Macklemore’s late friend Kevin who overdosed on prescription medication in 2010. Macklemore has been raising awareness about this society issue ever since.

The “Kevin” music video sees Seattle rapper Macklemore sporting two different (pretty stylish) outfits as he spits his record across an empty, and in ruins building in a powerful and intense manner. R&B singer Leon Bridges also makes an appearance in the newly-premiered video to perform his parts of the song.

I personally didn’t need a music video for the song because I think the song is all about the lyrics and message it conveys, but this black and white video does a good job at suiting the vibe and mood of “Kevin”.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' new joint album "This Unruly Mess I've Made" arrives in stores this Friday. Will you pick a copy?

What do you think of the video?
