Listen To The Instrumental Of "Befour", A New Zayn Malik Solo Song! Is The Title 1D Shady?
Is it too much coincidence that in the week the whole world is talking about One Direction because just a couple of days ago they released a new album, the band is promoting like crazy on TV and radio, and everyone is seeing how much their first-week sales are going to be and if they'll beat Justin Bieber, the first proper and in-depth interview of Zayn Malik, former member of the British boyband, as a solo artist gets published? I hope the decision of publishing this cover story for online magazine The Fader precisely in the first week of release of “Made in the A.M” to shamelessly attract the highest possible number of readers has been taken by the magazine’s editors and not by Zayn. Because if it has been Zayn’s call, it’d be a bit sad because everyone would immediately think that he is trying to jump on the bandwagon of One Direction’s “momentum” with the hype for their new album to try to get people to remember he’s got a solo career now.
In the accompanying visual (watch below) for his cover story on The Fader, which you can read in full here, Zayn talks about the musical influences that have inspired him to create his debut solo album and what fans can expect from this new era of his. This ‘promo’ video was shot at Zayn’s house in north London and in it we can see the ex One Direction star riding a motorcycle with a leather jacket, smoking in a bar, and showing a shirtless chest. But what's really important from this video is that throughout the whole of it we can listen to the instrumental of a new Zayn solo song that will appear on his upcoming, much-anticipated album. The song is called “Befour”, and from what we can hear it sounds like it’s going to feature some alternative R&B, with electronic bits, production. I quite like it! And thank God Zayn’s not doing something ‘too mainstream’ and is actually maturing as an artist and taking risks.
Is the title of the song shady, though? “BeFOUR” as in before the four other members of 1D? “beFOUR” as in ‘yeah, you guys should just be four, ‘cause i’m too cool for you’?
