Listen To Nate Ruess' 'Weird' New Song "Ah Ha" Now

nate ruess ah ha cover

I seriously hope this ain’t Nate Ruess’ next official single.

The former Fun. Frontman just released on iTunes a new song called “Ah Ha” that in principle should just be a ‘buzz’ single from his forthcoming debut solo album “Grand Romantic” (June 26, Fueled by Ramen) but the cool artwork, the individual iTunes release (not part of a pre-order page), and the immediate VEVO audio premiere are giving me “official single” vibes and I’m worried.

Ah Ha” is so unlike anything we’ve heard from Nate in the past, and I’m saying this in a bad way. It’s a weird song, with a weird structure, a weird production and weird vocals. The explosive Fun.-esque chorus is kind of nice but it just can’t ‘save’ the rest of the song for me. Sorry Nate, but I’m not loving “Ah Ha”. Not even one tiny bit. Please don’t make it your next radio single. I know it’s been really hard for you to take that “Nothing Without Love” has flopped, as it is a very personal song to you, but perhaps you have to think that the general public isn’t excited about you without the Fun. brand. And if I were you, I’d stick to the Fun.-esque music or songs in the same line as “Nothing Without Love”, which despite its chart flopness, I did like it.

Hit or Miss?
