Just as everybody was about to head to bed after finishing watching the Periscope and Instagram Live streams of the Eminem Coachella set, Janelle Monáe released a new song on digital platforms. Lifted from her upcoming studio album “Dirty Computer” (in stores April 27), the new Janelle song is titled “I Like That” and it’s a musical effort where Ms. Monáe serves fierce and confident vocals over a synth, trap beat.
"I don’t care what I look like but I feel good/ Better than amazing, and better than I could/ Told the whole world 'I'm the venom and the antidote/ Take a different type of girl to keep the world afloat," Monae sings. "And I like that / I don't really give a fuck if I'm the only one who likes that."
The uber-talented African-American singer-songwriter speaks about not changing your true self to make anyone comfortable (AMEN! – if they don’t love you for you, screw them!)
If Janelle’s new album “Dirty Computer” were a brand new iPhone, you can bet I’d line up by my local Apple Store on release day. That album is going to be hot!
