Listen To Hailee Steinfeld’s Anti-Party Girl Anthem “Hell No’s And Headphones” Now! Alessia Cara Who? [Premiere]

hailee steinfeld hell nos and headphones

If Alessia Cara has “Here”, Hailee Steinfeld has “Hell No’s and Headphones”.

Last night, November 11th, the singer and Oscar-nominated actress premiered a new song from her upcoming debut EP “Haiz”. It was the peaceful ballad Hell No’s And Headphones”, co-written by Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels, Mattias Larsson and Robin Fredriksson.

Out of the 4 songs that compose the EP, this is the only one that is a pure ballad, and similar to the Alessia Cara hit, “Hell No’s And Headphones” is an anti-party girl anthem. Hailee Steinfeld narrates in the song how she’s in this house party where people is drinking alcohol and smoking drugs and the only thing that she wants to be doing is to be locked up in a room in the house alone doing her own thing, and hearing the music she likes with her headphones on. As the night moves on, a fed-up Hailee gets to the point of storming out of the house party, leaving her drunk friends behind, and going back home where she’ll keep listening to her favorite songs of the moment and nodding along to them - yeah, with her most-likely Beats headphones still on - in the tranquility of her own bedroom.

I like “Hell No’s And Headphones” because 1) it’s different to the rest of tracks on “Haiz” and 2) because Hailee’s voice is particularly beautiful in this one. It’s very calm and it’s so real, in the sense she makes me believe everything she’s saying. Also, I feel listening to this song like Hailee’s whispering the words of “Hell No’s And Headphones” to my ears. Just beautiful!

"Haiz" is out this Friday via Republic Records.
