Listen: The Madden Brothers - "Dear Jane" [Studio Version]
“Dear Jane” is poor Jane. The Madden Brothers uploaded on VEVO today (September 2nd) the studio version of their song “Dear Jane”. The very vintage-sounding pop/rock number will appear on Benji and Joel’s forthcoming debut album (as The Madden Brothers) - titled “Greetings from California” and due in stores on September 16th via Capitol Records. Stream “Dear Jane” below, and if you like what you hear, go to the pre-order page of the album on iTunes and purchase the song.
“Dear Jane” song review
Recorded in early 2013 - as last year during a short joint tour the Madden brothers debuted it live – “Dear Jane” is an 70’s-sounding pop rock song – very in the style of the other “Greetings from California” songs we’ve heard so far) where Benji and Joel sing to a lady whose heart they’re about to break…or maybe not. “I don't wanna hurt you, but I got to make a change All I can say is that I hope you feel the same, dear Jane”, sing the identical twins in chorus of “Dear Jane”. Poor Jane has to be let know that she’s no longer loved. There’s nothing bad that I can say about this song. The vintage production is groovy, the lyrics are good, as is the vocal execution. Does this sound like a #1 hit? Well, evidently, no, but it's a good song nonetheless.
I applaud The Madden Brothers for taking such risks in their "debut" album even though, as I foresee, sales won’t accompany them.
