Lana del Rey Tells All About Golden Globe-Nominated Track "Big Eyes" In 1-Minute Interview

Unlike Lorde (with “Mockingjay”), Lana del Rey hasn’t been helping in the promotion of the new Tim Burton movie “Big Eyes”, in whose soundtrack she was two songs, on TV or anywhere. Blame it on a busy schedule? Or perhaps The Weinstein Company wants to keep it “indie” and doesn’t want to spend extra money on booking performances for “soundtrack” singer Lana del Rey on major television shows in the U.S? Either way, finally, promotion from Lana del Rey in support of "Big Eyes" has come; but not in the most effective way. Instead of sending Lana to "Letterman", "The Tonight Show” or “Ellen", The Weinstein Company has decided that Lana’s “promo” comes in YouTube format.

The film studio uploaded last night (Dec. 26) on their YouTube account an interview video of Lana talking of her soundtrack song "Big Eyes" - recently nominated for a Golden Globe - from a "Big Eyes" red carpet premiere event. The beautiful singer revealed that she drew inspiration from the story and imagery of the film to write “Big Eyes” (a given...), and that she tries to stay true to her aesthetic when it comes to recording songs for films or other artists, and that is, making the songs sound either jazz or "cinematic".

Lana looked beautiful in the video (great hair and make-up), and it was so awesome to finally see her, with her own mouth and words, telling us something about "Big Eyes". Tim Burton recently told MTV that the reason she green-lighted Lana del Rey being on the official "Big Eyes" soundtrack was that when he heard the song Lana had recorded (the title track) it just gave him "chills". Of course! Hearing any Lana song will make you feel like that. Didn't you know?

By the way, as I mentioned above, Lana has been nominated in the "Best Original Song" category for the 72nd Golden Globe Awards to be held next year on January 11th. Lana will face Lorde ("Yellow Flicker Beat"), John Legend ("Glory") and Sia ("Opportunity") and Patti Smtih ("Mercy Is"). Lana has it in the bag, right?

Saw the movie?
