Just Wow…! Macklemore Performs “White Privilege 2” On ‘Stephen Colbert’ [Video]

macklemore white privilege 2 performance

I don’t know why but I never pictured Macklemore performing “White Privilege 2” on television. Call it a waste of money, for the song won’t get much airplay time on radio either way, or because a performance on national television of this particular song would spark a lot of intense debate both online and on talk shows, because of what it’s about, but the reality is that Macklemore did it anyway. He and his wingman Ryan Lewis performed “White Privilege 2”, a song that talks about racism in America, the “Black Lives Matter” movement, and black culture appropriation by some white artists and is part of their upcoming second joint album “This Unruly Mess I’ve Made” (out Feb. 26), on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” last night, February 8th.

Watch them in action below:

Very powerful.

I liked the fact they were all wearing black clothes for the performance because it gave an air of more seriousness, and I liked too the emotional speeches poets Nikkita Oliver and Danez Smith gave before Jamelie Woods walked in to do her outro.

I guess Macklemore must’ve thought: “if Beyonce touched the subject the other day at THE SUPER BOWL, why can’t I do it on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”, huh?”. Ehhh… true!

Thoughts?
