Jessie J Goes To Barden University In "Flashlight" Music Video: Watch!
British gal Jessie J took to VEVO this Friday morning (April 24) to premiere the music video for “Flashlight”, the soaring pop ballad with which she has kindly contributed to the soundtrack of “Pitch Perfect 2”.
I described this song as a “borefest” because it is that. How many times have we heard this type of soaring ballads that just don’t go anywhere? Tons. Jessie J was given the opportunity to participate in a movie that’s probably going to generate millions and millions of dollars and that’s going to get major promotion all around the world, and “Flashlight” is the best thing she could come up with? Come on. Certainly the “Pitch Perfect 2” producers asked her to record a powerful ballad, but either Jessie J was too busy with other stuff to pay care to what she did, or she picked the wrong producer, because “Flashlight” is one of her worst songs ever. It is so ‘meh’ that if it was a song from the recording sessions of one of her studio albums, and I would have scrapped it from the tracklisting.
As for the “Flashlight” music video (watch below), it shows Jessie J soaking up the sunrays at the entrance of Barden University in an out-of-fashion overall, and later donning a sparkling black dress as she performs a concert for the ‘uni’ students, who support Jessie J by moving side to side their flashlights.
