Jacob Whitesides Recruits Diva Kelly Rowland For New Single "I Know What You Did Last Summer": Listen

jacob whitesides i know what you did last summer

How did newcomer Jacob Whitesides score such a major gig? I wanna know! A collaboration with the one and only Kelly Rowland? Hello?

Quick recap on Whitsides' career: Born in 1997 in Knoxville, Tennessee, he's a teen singer, he auditioned on season 2 of "The X Factor USA" and made it through, he's garnered massive following thanks to his melodic covers on YouTube, he's got 2 EPs out (one made of only covers and another one full of original songs), and he's the CEO of his own label, Double U Records - backed by BMG.

With none full-length albums on his back catalogue yet, 18-year-old Jacob Whitesides has surprisingly scored an original collaboration with the legendary Ms. Kelly Rowland. The song is called "I Know What You Did Last Summer", and word has it this is going to be included on Jacob's forthcoming studio debut (allegedly out later this year). And you know what? The song is GOOD! Not sure if radios are going to give Jacob a shot and give "I Know What You Did Last Summer" some airplay but the song would definitely deserve it. The Knoxville native's new single is a melodic tune with its production featuring a nostalgic electric guitar soft riff, some piano, some finger snapping and some synths. Vocals-wise, both Jacob and Kelly show off great technique. I'm really impressed by the former! He's got real talent. And although I'm finding some trouble to 100% "believe" the romance J and K sing about in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (he's 18 and she's 34), I can't help to still think this is a good track.
