Are you also getting Django Unchained vibes from J. Cole's newly-premiered “G.O.M.D” music video? The rapper has selected the self-produced and self-written track as the new single from his sophomore album “2014 Forest Hills Drive”. “G.O.M.D”, which stands for “Get Off My D*ck”, is a powerful hip-hop song where J. Cole narrates his battle to prevent the music industry and popularity to change the essence of his music (please don’t let them!).

Directed by Lawrence Lamont and premiered online today (March 23) on VEVO, the “G.O.M.D” clip shows a little too much resemblance to the Quentin Tarantino movie. But it also could it be that J. Cole got his inspiration from the “Selma” film and the current tense atmosphere that can be perceived in the United States with respect to the African-American community’s sort of uprising after the unjustified deaths of black people by the hands of police officers. Whatever the inspiration was, J. Cole’s made one amazing music video. This is award winning-worthy.

We are slaves no more! (nothing to do with the song but nice concept!)

The music video shows J. Cole being the “lucky” servant of a white family, in the times where black people were still slaves in the US, who's only task is to be a butler. As the video progresses, it’s revealed J. Cole is tired of being the treated like an inferior human being (obviously) and he will plot with the rest of slaves of the property to make a revolt. Eventually, one day at night time, the now armed slaves will break in the house and kidnap their “owners” and tie them up next a bonfire as the female (now free) slaves do a choreographed dance. Now that’s what I'm talking about.

What do you think of the video?
