Il Volo On UK Deluxe Edition Of “Grande Amore”, Eurovision Tips, Dream Collaboration With Andrea Bocelli & More - DirectLyrics Interview

il volo interview 2016

World renowned Italian opera-pop trio Il Volo, made of Piero Barone,Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, are continuing spreading their love to their international fans. In this occasion, the fans being “treated” are Il Volo’s UK fans, as tomorrow, May 27th, a brand new deluxe edition of the trio’s last-year-released fourth studio album “Grande Amore” will arrive in British stores. This new deluxe version for the UK will include four bonus tracks. Moreover, Il Volo has aligned this UK album re-release so that it coincides in time with the only date they’ll be playing in the UK as part of their on-going 2016 world tour. The trio will play a must-not-be-misssed concert at the iconic London Palladium next week (June 3rd).

Il Volo started their career back in 2010 with the release of their eponymous debut album, which quickly crossed borders outside of Italy and became an astounding success in many countries, including the very competitive US market (something not at the reach of many) where “Il Volo”, the album, topped Billboard’s Classical Albums chart and the Latin Pop Album charts.

Il Volo has played many world tours in the latest years, their massive fanbase (of all ages) is still on the rise, and to be especially noted is their win last year at the prestigious San Remo Festival in Italy, which eventually allowed Il Volo to represent their country in that year’s Eurovision Song Contest - where the trio ended up third following an impressive performance of their song “Grande Amore”, something that further increased Il Volo’s popularity in Europe and the rest of the world.

Yesterday, May 26th, Directlyrics.com had the opportunity to interview Il Volo, and we had the time to ask them all about their upcoming “Grande Amore” UK deluxe edition, their upcoming London show, possibly recording more Christmas music, their dream collaboration yet to be recorded, what their favorite songs of the moment are, among other things.

The Interview

1. Hi guys! Where are you answering this Q&A from and how’s your day been like so far?

We’re answering from Milan, where tonight we’ll be singing with one of the greatest: Andrea Bocelli! This is more than enough to make our day great!

2. The UK deluxe edition of your latest album “Grande Amore” will be released on May 27th - featuring four new tracks. Are you excited about the release?

We’re very excited about this “UK Deluxe version” of our album! We like the fact that it gives our UK fans many more tracks than the original album released internationally last September. These four bonus tracks were released in a mini-album around our participation at the Sanremo Festival, which we won and thanks to that it went on to sell zillions of copies in Italy.

3. You have lined up a concert in London to promote the album release. You will be performing on June 3rd at the iconic London Palladium as part of your current world tour. For those who haven’t seen you live yet, how’s an Il Volo concert like?

There is a fun element to our shows, and our audience can see we enjoy ourselves, but the key word is emotion: the choice of songs and our “sound”, meaning the combination of our voices, clearly have a strong effect on the audience.

4. What’s a famous British singer that you haven’t covered in concert yet that you would love to do in London?

We love Elton John, Ed Sheeran and many other British singers.

5. You performed on Eurovision last year. Have you had a chance to listen to Francesca Michielin’s “No Degree of Separation” - the song that represented Italy this year?

Yes, we love that song, which she did well with at Sanremo this year too.

6. What’s your best memory from your Eurovision journey of last year and what’s an advice that you would give to future performers at the festival?

Our best memory is when we won the popular vote! It’s true we came 3rd overall, but to us winning the popular vote, meaning people actually picked up their phones to send in a vote for us more than other participants was a true victory! The only advice is to relax and enjoy it, Eurovision can be a lot of fun!

7. Your 2013 Christmas album “Buon Natale” went #1 on the Top Classical Albums chart and the Holiday Albums chart in the USA. I’m sure fans would love to get a new Christmas album from you. Would you be interested in recording a new one maybe this time filled with originals? That would be a nice challenge, huh?

A whole album of Christmas originals might be too much, seeing that we’ve already done a Christmas album, but we would definitely consider a great Christmas song for one of our albums, why not?

8. What are Il Volo’s Top 5 songs of the moment?

We like Alvaro Soler’s new song “Sofia” (he’s from Spain), Coldplay “Hymn for the Weekend”, Sia “Cheap Thrills”, “This Is What You Came For” by Calvin Harris and Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake’s new material.

9. Who would you love to record a collaboration with in the future, and why that person?

Andrea Bocelli has been our inspiration and we really admire him so recording with him would be a dream come true, but we also like the idea of collaborating with younger artists from different genres to ours. If you hear of anyone interested…let us know!!!

10. Thank you for your time, guys! Any last thing you’d like to share with our Directlyrics.com readers?

We’re so glad our album is finally released in the UK and we can come and perform here. See you soon!
