We were emailed this song and we are forever thankful to the person that sent it. Hey Violet’s new single “Break My Heart” is undoubtedly one of the best pop song’s we’ve heard so far this year. It’s also the first song ever we hear from this band - who will be releasing later in 2017 their major label debut album (have signed with Capitol Records).
“Break My Heart” is a pop/rock, electro-pop hybrid that hears front woman Rena Lovelis singing about how she’s on a personal quest of getting the biggest number of heartbreaks (inflicted on her) possible. Because unlike other people, Rena is so “curious to live and learn” that she’s actually praying that her next boyfriend tells her “Rena, you've never loved me! Don't lie!” and that “Rena, it wasn't real, right?”, because she wants him to “break my heart” (because she loves the feeling and the pain of it apparently).
Hey… if you only live once and you love the “thrill” of heartbreak, go girl!
We may not be supporters of this "lifestyle" the band share with us in this song but there’s something about "Break My Heart" that is so magnetic that it makes us want to chant the chorus along with Rena no matter what. We’re possessed!
