Hear Zayn Malik's First Solo Song "I Won't Mind" (Demo)
Amid a nasty Twitter fight last night with Louis Tomlinson of One Direction, producer Naughty Boy (creator of the hit “La La La”) posted a SoundCloud link directing to a demo of a new Zayn Malik solo song titled “I Won’t Mind”, and it sounds nothing like the music he did with the boyband.
“I Won’t Mind” is a song Zayn wrote and recorded in Naughty Boy’s London studio a few months ago (see, he knew his solo career was a matter of time. He evidently used the “Perrie” drama in Thailand to accelerate the process). The calm song shows the former One Direction star going the raw, alternative, indie route. So you can get it by just words; “I Won’t Mind” sounds like an Ed Sheeran song with the singing style of Sia. The whole sound of the track brings immediately to mind the first works of the “Thinking Out Loud” star and his poor enunciation yet cool delivery is so Sia-like.
Overall, it needs some polishing up to do, but “I Won’t Mind” has potential. I kinda like it. Vocals sound so good, the melody is everything, and although the theme of the song is kind of depressing, it’s very relatable. “I Won’t Mind” is so superior to a lot of stuff in One Direction’s “Four”. FACT.
