Hard To Watch: DNCE Fans Manhandled At Meet & Greet In Mexico / Where’s The Love, Joe Jonas?

This was legit hard to watch.

It’s true Joe Jonas has been famous for over a decade now. But DNCE, the electro-pop group he is presently leading and that he was forced to ‘create’ after he flopped with his solo career, has only been “known” for a year. So he needs to ‘chillax’ big time.

Joe and DNCE were in Guadalajara, Mexico last week to do some promotion. It seems that for whatever reason “Cake by the Ocean” is still huge over there.

During one of the days of their Guadalajara visit DNCE stopped by Plaza Patria Mall to do a 'meet & greet' with the fans. And as in every M&G, they were supposed to line up to ‘greet’ their fans one by one and take pictures with them. However, DNCE’s Mexican M&G last week did not go well.

My question after watching this was: Why do artists who clearly don’t want to interact with their fans even bother doing meet and greets? Like, what’s the point?

This what happened:

  1. Joe nor anyone in the band tried to interact or talk with their fans.
  2. Some Mexican DNCE fans wanted to kiss Joe hello/goodbye and he refused every one of them.
  3. Some fans wanted to give their idol Joe Jonas one last big hug before leaving his side, and what was their punishment for such an awful act? To be manhandled by the group’s security person. It is my belief that one of those manhandling actions bordered on assault.

Why did those fans allow to be treated in that way?

I don’t mind if a security guy politely tells me to please move along so the next person can come, and that he even gently taps me on the back to make his point clearer, but boy, DO NOT GRAB ME.

But anyhow, I guess I won’t succeed in changing the way security personnel do their job in this post. But I do want to speak loud and clearly about my disappointment on the terrible attitude of the DNCE band and especially lead singer Joe Jonas at this 'meet and greet' in Mexico. Just sad. Joe basically told their fans with his body language that he is only interested in their money, and not their love.

So sad because this Mexican tragedy could've been easily avoided by Joe.

Please don’t do another M&G in the future if you’re not willing to actually ‘greet’ your fans with true love for them.

Thoughts?
