Hailee Steinfeld - "Love Myself" [Music Video Premiere!]
I’m totally in love with Hailee Steinfeld’s debut single “Love Myself”, and despite the somewhat disappointing music video (which premiered on VEVO today – August 14th), I’m still going to be a fan.
“Love Myself” is the lead single Ms. Steinfeld’s (you may know her as “The Trinity” from the Taylor Swift “Bad Blood” music video) upcoming full-length debut album or debut EP (this is yet to be determined), which is expected to drop in stores sometime in the last quarter of 2015 via Republic Records. Rumor has it around Christmas.
The “Love Myself” music video was directed by Hannah Lux Davis (geez! Is this woman the only MV director in the game right now or what? She’s like the new Colin Tilley) and was unveiled through the VEVO network only moments ago (watch below).
The music video is a bit of a let down I must say. I was expecting something with a more original plot. Instead, we get Hailee Steinfeld sporting exquisite slutty fashion as she sings “Love Myself” out loud from a rooftop, and random people stopping before a mirror strategically placed on the street with “#LoveMyself” written on it. Say what? And instead of just passing by, like normal people would, these individuals will play along with the hashtag and will begin dancing like crazy people, immediately switching their negative mood for a happy one. Queen Hailee will get down to the street towards the end of the video for a big group dance-off.
Hmmm, ok, cute effort but the Icona Pop-y "Love Myself" deserved better IMO. Will still support the song, though!
