Gwen Stefani Performs New Single “Make Me Like You” On "Jimmy Kimmel Live", Finally Admits It’s About Blake Shelton!
So quick! The intense promotion in support of Gwen Stefani’s new single “Make Me Like You” starts NOW. The 46-year-old Californian singer was the musical guest on last night’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, February 16th, on ABC.
At the outdoors stage of Jimmy Kimmel’s studios in Los Angeles, the blonde chanteuse and girlfriend of country star Blake Shelton offered a live mini-concert for the hundreds of fans that had gotten tickets for this special occasion. Her only televised performance was that of her new single “Make Me Like You” - from her upcoming third solo album “This Is What The Truth Feels Like…” (out March 18) - but she also delivered more performances, although these weren’t aired on TV. She also sang “What You Waiting For?”, “The Sweet Escape”, "Hollaback Girl" and "Used To Love You".
Fashion-wise, I don’t think this was Gwen’s best night for it seemed as she had a dead animal on her as a dress. Also, let’s not even comment on the clothes she made her backup dancers wear - they looked like they came from a farm!
Reviewing her actual live delivery, though, Gwen sounded good in her “Make Me Like You” performance. However, I did feel like the “spectacle” part of her performance lacked of something… oh! I know what it was. It lacked of a lead man that played the role of Gwen’s “boyfriend”. Something like that. Because seeing Gwen perform “Make Me Like You” alone - not minding the dancers in the back - was a bit monotonous. It lacked some joy and fun, and of someone, a lead man, alongside Gwen to make us really connect with the vulnerable message of the song. “Make Me Like You” LIVE definitely needs someone who plays Gwen’s lover. Maybe they can even do a choreography together! Because look at Gwen’s other performances last night, she really showed great personality there, and because she’s done those songs for so many years now she already knows what works well for them in a performance.
I hope someone in Gwen’s team reads this and tells her to make corrections for the next televised performance of “Make Me Like You”.
