English singer Florrie has come a long way.

She started her career as an independent solo artist back in 2010. With much effort, she managed to release three EPs in total in the following years - with her paying all of the distribution bills – well... she did have some relatively potent support; super production team Xenomania. Who are Xenomania? They have produced hits for Girls Aloud, Alesha Dixon, The Saturdays or Kylie Minogue. Before Florrie stepped out as a solo artist, she used to work as a drummer (!) for Xenomania. So no surprise here when they offered Florrie their entire support - not only agreeing to produce all of her songs, and build up her solo career, but also helping her out financially. Releasing three EPs independently is no cheap thing.

A year after her last independent EP, in 2014, Florrie was signed by Sony Music by means of RCA Records UK. That same year Florrie would release her first project with a major label, the EP “Sirens”. Now in 2016, and having had two years to work on more music, Florrie is ready to give their fans her long-awaited full-length debut album. RCA Records UK will release this later this year. However, the first single we can check out now. It’s called “Real Love”, the music video (and the first listen we get to have of the song at all) premiered today (Feb. 4) on VEVO, and the single will be released officially on iTunes tomorrow, February 5th. Will I support with a purchase? I think so!

THE MUSIC VIDEO (and my review of the song too)

At last! I’ve heard “Real Love” in full. Do I like it? Yes. Will it go Top 10 in the UK? Most likely. And if she promotes adequately, even Top 5. Is this Florrie’s best song yet? Ehh..here I would say no. She’s recorded better songs in the past. “Real Love” is cute, but not Florrie at her best. Radios are really going to like it, though, and that’s, well, a good thing. Very radio-friendly, and with some intelligently-written lyrics. I hope, though, that with the second single Florrie do slay me.

For the music video of “Real Love” – a pop song with a synth edge where Florrie talks about possibly having found the love of her life, Florrie is seen having up and down moments with her boyfriend in their exquisitely decorated house - Wow! at the photography in this music video. The filming style, the shots, the colorfulness of the video, the looks, the lights…it all was flawless. Who directed this!? If he’s an unknown person, he needs to have more jobs as music videos director ASAP.

So the ups and downs of the couple is basically what we are shown in this video. Although, the relationship does get a bit too dramatic, for worse, towards the end of the “Real Love” video when Florrie’s man flirts with a stripper girl, who's entertaining a house party they’re having, while Florrie is asleep on the couch. Florrie later learns of this unfaithful event, and plots her revenge. That’s why we see her with a knife, but looking absolutely stunning in that pink suit, at the kitchen. Will she assassinate her boyfriend? That you will have to see to find out. My question is, though, why does Florrie appear submerged in the pool in the last scene? Ohh, is it because she couldn’t do….oops. I’ll say no more. But I’ll say one last thing, I’m not entirely sure the story told in the music video really makes complete sense with the lyrics of “Real Love”, which are supposed to be all about good sentiments…not trying to kill anyone because they’ve cheated on you. I’m a bit confused here.

What do you think of the song and video?
