What to do with a $900,000 budget? Shoot the most epic, most visually amazing, most expensive music video ever? Well, that would be everyone’s immediate thought but not Drake’s. The Canadian rapper literally gave away all of the 996,631.90 dollars he was given for his “God’s Plan” music video – which premiered last night on YouTube. Drake gave all that money to people who actually needed it.
Here’s summary of what went down: Drake dropped by a supermarket and paid for everyone’s groceries, wrote a check for $50,000 to a high school student to attend the University of Miami, took a couple of young ladies on a shopping spree at Saks Fifth Avenue alongside Pittsburgh Steelers player, Antonio Brown, signed a $20,000 check to the City of Miami Fire Department, gave away toys and $50,000 to the Lotus House Women’s Shelter, gifted a van to the Overtown Youth Center and even bought a young man a brand new car.
So did his label freak out? Maybe… “Don't tell the label” reads the caption in the intro of the "God's Plan" video. So his label didn’t know? Oops! Oh well, the more “humble” music video below is doing quite fine views-wise so it’s a win-win situation in the end!
Directed by Director X, get the tissues because the one below is a very heartwarming music video!
